You might think that traveling, writing music, and rocking the free world takes up all our time, but as a great man could have very well said, "A band that plays together, stays together."

What's the point of traveling the world, if you can't pull over and have a spot of mini golf every now and then? To that end, we've become masters of "brick in the desert" entertainment...the ability to play some sort of unity-destroying competition amoungst ourselves, anytime, anywhere, and with any equipment (or lack thereof).

So we come now to "golf". Some have claimed it to be the most frustrating game in the world, and seeing Bretta miss a 12 inch shot and throw his putter in rage makes us inclined to agree. Since time off on tour is fleeting, and AB's actual golfing skills are a tad "below par" we've found ourselves gravitating towards the reputable game of mini-golf.

Never ones to keep to the rules, we've found a more exciting way to compete is for each player to putt in turn, and all the balls being on the astro-turf simultaneously, thus creating a sort of mini-golf/snooker hybrid. If a ball is blocking another's path to the hole, that's just the way the cookie crumbles, man. It also makes for some interesting "hey..c'mon, don't hit my ball/hit that guy's instead/no seriously, he's gonna win if you don't" inter-player politics.

Although we're sure this page is mostly for our own entertainment and egos, here's where you can come for all the latest updates on our golfing prowess.

March 2007
Pirates Cove Mini Golf, Orlando, FL, USA

1st - Josh
2nd - Sam
3rd - Brett
4th - Naarah
Last - Swanny
DNP - Matt

Not even the "Hey-we're-located-near-Disneyworld!" exorbitant game prices could stop today's pirate-themed mini golf sesh. Josh still on a putting high from controversial previous win. You'd think Swanny's last game with Alabaster Box would possibly inspire his loving band mates to go easy on him, and let him win for old time's sake...ahhh, no chance....but then again, the AB boys aren't known as the most competitive band in Christian music for nothing.

March 2007
Bonanza Golf, Orlando, FL, USA

1st - Sam
2nd - Josh
3rd - Swanny
Equal last - Matt
Equal last - Brett
DNP - Naarah

Out of nowhere, a cold dark feeling of ill-omen, and band-ending dis-unity hit the boys like a Mack truck with a trailer full of controversy. Just as Brett was securing a win for a second time that day, the score card "slipped" from Josh's hand and fell to oblivion between the cracks of the boardwalk. After much wailing and gnashing of teeth, and more than one attempt to dig under the floorboards, the game was declared forfeit, and re-started. The massive blow to Bretts emotions was more than he could bear, as he quickly slipped to last place in the re-started match. In an ironic twist of fate, Josh, the very lad who had lost the scorecard, found a first place. Needless to say, the Brett/Josh reconciliation counseling sessions are continuing, and we pray for their speedy recovery.

2nd - Sam
3rd - Swanny
4th - Matt

DNP - Naarah

If there's one place without a shortage of putt putt courses, it's Orlando Florida. For once it wasn't a matter of finding a spot, it was more like which course do we want! Brett hit the 2007 season firing, with a big win. And even our resident "special player" Matt was inspired to not come last. The sun was shining, the birds were whistling a merry tune, everyone was happy....until....

1st - Green-e (sound guy)
2nd - Sam
Equal 3rd - Swanny
Equal 3rd - Brett
4th - Josh
Last - Matt
DNP - Naarah

A long putt putt drought broken by a quick game before a show in Kentucky. Course being owned by scary folks with very few teeth makes the AB boys nervous at first. Green-e looking unbeatable with more holes in one than Tiger Woods, leaving rest of the pack to scramble for remaining positions. Matt emotionally devistated by lack of form.

May 2006
Castles 'n Coasters Course, Phoenix, Arizona, USA

1st - Brett
2nd - Matt
3rd - Chris "Minigolf Sponsor" i.e. he paid for the game (guest player)
4th - Sam
Last - Swanny
DNP - Naarah
DNP - Josh

Brett deserved the win. He was dominating, cool, and looked amazing as he savaged his opposition with skill and precision. Whilst mounting pressure which was unbearable for his under-prepared and outplayed opponents. His skill level is so much superior we wonder why he spends his time playing such unworthy competitors. If there was only mini golf in the olympics, I'm sure Brett would be representing Australia. (Written by Brett Seagrott)

A few days to recover from trans-pacific jet lag, and we hit the astro-turf again. Our first USA comp saw us contending with close proximity highway racket, and poor breathing conditions due to heavy LA smog. Sam's conservative consistancy, although sneered at, helps him clutch victory from the group. Brett and Matt hug to console each other in defeat.

Indisputably the most awesome course at which Alabaster Box has ever gripped the putter. With more tricks than David Copperfield, this marvel of modern science has a compliment of holes to make even the most veteran golfer weak at the knees. Bretta pulls another win out of thin air, with a re-energised Swanny snapping at his heels. Naarah combats the losing blues by decorating her section of scorecard with flowers and hearts.
